Sustainable development is only possible with the development of the society where we are operating.

Logistics industry is among the sectors with the highest negative effects on climate change due to the greenhouse gas emissions of the vehicles. Hence, reducing the negative environmental impact of the logistics industry is of utmost importance not only for the logistics industry but also for the entire network. We are obliged to find solutions that minimize the greenhouse gas emissions of the industry in order to prevent the damage caused by the transportation business on the natural life.

At Barsan Global Lojistik, our environmental policy is based on a proactive approach aimed at preventing the problems before their emergence rather than a reactive one that seeks solutions after their emergence. Accordingly, we share the value we create together with all our business partners within the supply chain and thus support their transformation.

Greenhouse gas emissions in the logistics industry are caused 89 percent by transportation activity and 11 percent by premises and warehouses. We regularly calculate our carbon footprint in order to reduce the greenhouse gas emission caused by transportation.

35.382,758 t CO2e

This was our carbon footprint caused by transportation from 1 January to 31 December 2021.

A report issued by the World Economic Forum lists the obligations that fall on the logistics service providers in order to successfully minimize the greenhouse gas emissions:
1. To use clean vehicles,
2. To optimize the networks and establish a productive hierarchical structure,
3. To build new green buildings,
4. To train the suppliers, customers and employees,
5. To establish a recycling and waste management system.

Within the framework of the above-defined obligations, we have realized very important transformations in the body of our fleet, optimization of our networks, training of the suppliers / customers and employees, and recycling and waste management systems.

Our entire fleet was renewed in line with Euro 6 norms in this year. We do not use any vehicle above the age of 3.

Using clean vehicles is one of the most important factors to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in road transportation. Although greenhouse gas emissions were reduced considerably upon the introduction of the Euro standard in transportation business, the most notable development of all can be achieved with vehicles having Euro 6 standards.

Major environmental impact caused by the warehousing operations stems from the consumption of electricity. We switched to LED lighting in our warehouses in order to minimize electricity consumption.

Using less amount of energy and minimizing energy losses lie at the heart of the environmental friendly and economic driving trainings. About 10 percent fuel can be saved thanks to these trainings depending on the conditions of the roads and use.

The environmental friendly and economic driving trainings that we give to the drivers are aimed at reducing the energy consumption.
